Breaking Down the Debut Set: Welcome to Night City

CHOOM.GG|

We heard you loud and clear, chooms. You need information, and we have it. In this update we'll break down exactly what comes in the debut Cyberpunk TCG set, Welcome to Night City, plus individual booster pack pull rates, the differences between Kickstarter and Retail versions, and more.

Set 1 -- Welcome to Night City Configuration

Welcome to Night City has 140 mechanically unique cards, plus 31 alternate arts for a total of 171 cards. Here's the full breakdown:

  • 60 Commons
  • 32 Uncommons
  • 32 Rares
  • 12 Epic Rares
  • 4 Secret Rares
  • 31 Iconic Rares (alternate artwork versions of other cards)

Booster Pack Configuration

Thanks to the backers of the Kickstarter campaign, each Cyberpunk TCG booster pack now includes two hit slots to pull Rare+ cards from. Each booster pack contains 12 cards, including:

  • 7 Common cards
  • 3 Uncommon cards
  • 2 Rare+ cards (a mix of Rare, Epic Rare, Secret Rare, and Iconic Rare cards)

Iconic Rare and Rarity Differences

Iconic Rares are foiled, alternate art cards. There are 31 Iconic Rares in Welcome to Night City, which can be broken down into three specific categories:

  • Core Iconic Rare -- Alternate artwork versions of Units, Programs, and Gear
  • Legend Iconic Rare -- Alternate artwork versions of Legends
  • Secret Iconic Rare -- Alternate artwork versions of the four Secret Rare cards

Pull Rates

Every time you open a booster pack of Cyberpunk TCG, you have a chance of a preem pull. Here are the odds:

  • Rare cards appear more than once per pack.
  • Epic Rare cards appear in around one in four packs.
  • Secret Rare cards appear in around one in 24 packs.
  • Iconic Rare cards appear in around one in 18 packs.

Each Beta (Kickstarter) booster display contains 36 booster packs, and each Retail booster display contains 24 booster packs.

Beta Set vs. Retail Set Differences

The Beta (Kickstarter) version of Welcome to Night City features identical gameplay to the Retail version, but players can look forward to unique artworks across each version of Set 1. While the 140 mechanically unique cards will not change across Beta and Retail versions, the alternate artwork Iconic Rares will be different.

There will be 62 total Iconic Rares for Welcome to Night City -- 31 in Beta and 31 in Retail.

Beta and Retail will otherwise have the same pack configuration outlined above, and the same chances of pulling a particular rarity.

As for why separate Iconic Rares are only available in the Retail version -- WeirdCo wants to support local game stores. These are the lifeblood of trading card games, so adding this extra incentive will drive players to their LGS.

Stay plugged in, chooms.
