Quick Hacks: The "Instants" of Cyberpunk TCG
In the Cyberpunk TCG, the fluid combat of the video game is translated through a high-speed mechanic called Quick Hacks. For veteran TCG players, the simplest way to understand them is this: Quick Hacks are the "Instants" of the Cyberpunk world.
Reactive Interaction
Much like an Instant in Magic: The Gathering or a Reaction in Riftbound, Quick Hacks break the standard turn-based flow. They allow you to:
Play on your opponent's turn: Respond to an attack or an ability the moment it happens.
Execute Combat Tricks: Buff your units or debuff an enemy mid-clash to swing the tide of a fight.
Disrupt the Flow: "Hack" into your opponent’s playstyle by neutralizing threats before they can fully resolve.
Flavor Meets Function
While the mechanics feel familiar, the flavor is pure Cyberpunk. Instead of casting a spell, you are jacking into a system. Whether you are "glitching" an enemy's weapon or "pinging" their hand for information, these cards simulate the sudden, intrusive nature of digital warfare.
The "Alpha / Beta" Disclaimer
It is important to note that the full Cyberpunk TCG rulebook has not been released yet. While we know Quick Hacks provide reactive speed, we are still waiting on specifics regarding:
Priority and Timing: Exactly when a player can "pass priority" to use a Hack.
Resource Costs: How the game's resource system limits back-to-back reactive plays.
Counter-Hacking: Whether there will be a "stack" or chain system allowing players to respond to a Quick Hack with another Quick Hack.
For now, think of them as your primary tool for keeping your opponent on their toes.
