New Intel: Four more card drops!

CHOOM.GG|

In Episode 9 of the Cyberdeck Podcast, hosts Cree "Kawa" Gunning and Paweł Burza were joined by WeirdCo Lead Game Designer David McDarby to pull back the curtain on the final pieces of the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game 'Color Tree.'

Throughout this insightful session, the team broke down the strategic philosophies behind the Blue and Yellow factions. Exploring everything from the subtle, netrunning manipulation of the Voodoo Boys to the high-tech, gear-driven versatility that defines the game's evolving meta. For those who missed the podcast, we’ve synthesized the key card reveals and design takeaways below, offering a closer look at the mechanics that will shape your next journey into Night City, but really, show your support and go watch, like and subscribe to the podcast. I'm an old man with limited time, I wont always be able to stay up to date and things may be delayed here on Choom.gg.

Blue is all about precision and staying under the radar.

  • Maman Brigitte: A powerful 5-cost unit and Voodoo Boys leader. Her ability allows you to discard two programs to bottom-deck an unequipped rival unit. This is a game-changing piece of removal that completely bypasses 'defeated' triggers.

  • Chrome Reverie: A 3-cost 'Brain Dance' program that forces a rival unit to skip its attack phase. Plus, if you control a 'min gig' (1), you can call a legend for free, offering incredible utility and tempo control.

Yellow: Technical Aptitude & Diversion

Yellow represents technical expertise and the ability to find a technological solution for any problem.

  • Gilded Matón: A 4-cost Valentino ganger. When played, you can choose to defeat a friendly gear to destroy a rival unit with a cost of 3 or less. It encourages tactical sacrifice of your own assets to clear the board.

  • Zetatech Faceplate: A versatile 2-cost gear. When the attached unit or legend is spent, you can adjust a gig value to 1. If you control three or more gigs with different values, you draw a card, plus, it provides a +2 power boost. This card is a powerhouse for players looking to manipulate board states.

These reveals showcase the depth of strategy waiting for you in Night City. Something I think everyone was very much concerned with when we saw the Alpha Kits. So whether you prefer the subtle, netrunning manipulation of Blue or the technical, gear-focused adaptability of Yellow, there seems to be playstyle for everyone showing up as we get more reveals!
