Missed updates!
It's been a minute since our last update, Chooms, and a lot has happened in that time. WeirdCo finally locked in the official launch calendar, Anime Expo brought a wave of new card reveals, and there's still more coming before Set 1 even hits shelves. If you're like me and haven't been too in the loop here's the full catch-up in one place.
The Release Date Is Locked In
The wait is over. WeirdCo has published the full road to launch for Welcome to Night City:
September 1: Kickstarter fulfillment begins. Backer rewards start shipping worldwide.
September 10 to 17: Cyberpunk TCG Beta Events, the first taste of organized play, open to the community ahead of the wider launch.
October 30: Welcome to Night City Retail Prerelease Weekend at local game stores.
November 6: Full retail release. Welcome to Night City is officially out everywhere.
That's about four months from Kickstarter fulfillment to full retail, with two community events in between. If you're backing, get September 1 on your calendar. If you're waiting for retail, November 6 is your day.
Anime Expo Was Cyberpunk TCG's Biggest Show Yet
WeirdCo and CD PROJEKT RED shared a booth at Anime Expo 2026, their largest convention presence to date, running demo sessions for an expected 2,000+ players over the weekend. A few things came out of it worth knowing.
The updated demo decks are live for everyone now. The old Alpha Test kits are retired. From here on, demos (in person or via Print-and-Play) use cards exactly as they'll appear in the actual Welcome to Night City boosters and starter decks. The new Print-and-Play decks are up now, including a previously unrevealed card, Dexter DeShawn — One Last Chance.
Four new cards were revealed at the show: Sasha Yakovleva — Won't Let You Down, Screw — Lovelorn Fool, Viktor Vektor, You Might Feel A Little Pinch; and Nadia — Fighting Through Grief. Full breakdowns on all four, plus artwork, are in episode 15 of the Cyberdeck podcast if you want the deep dive.
There was also a first look at Organized Play promos. The Adam Smasher key art from the AX booth mural turned out to be a teaser for an upcoming Organized Play promo, Adam Smasher — Metal Over Meat. WeirdCo says more detail on how to earn it, along with other OP promos, is coming in a major Organized Play announcement wave later this summer.
On top of that, the premium accessory bundle is now up for pre-order. The Adam Smasher/Rebecca "The Moment" bundle (Nova Rare diptych cards, a set of six acrylic dice, a neoprene playmat, and a deck box) is available through the CD PROJEKT RED Gear Store. It's a time-limited pre-sale, so don't sit on it if you want one.
Where to Catch the Game Next
Cyberpunk TCG's convention tour keeps rolling. Paris just wrapped, and Gen Con Indianapolis (July 30 to August 2) is next, with WeirdCo confirming there's a lot more planned for that one. If Gen Con follows the AX pattern, expect another round of card reveals and probably more detail on Organized Play.
Early Impressions Are Strong (But I think we knew that)
Kotaku got hands-on time with the game ahead of release and came away impressed, calling it a game that's shaping up to stick around rather than fade out like a lot of TCGs do. That's a good sign this close to launch.
That's the full catch-up. Mark September 1 (Kickstarter shipping) and November 6 (retail launch) on your calendar, grab the new Print-and-Play demo decks if you haven't tried the updated rules yet, and keep an eye out for Gen Con news at the end of the month.
Stay plugged in, Chooms
